This is one of the most successful promos of the last five years…
It’s for Jim Rickards’ Strategic Intelligence newsletter, published by Agora company Paradigm Press.
In virtually every headline for a Jim Rickards’ promo, you’ll read he’s a “former advisor to the Pentagon and CIA”.
This is of course awesome credibility.
From ultimate insider to ultimate whistleblower.
That’s why in virtually every lead for a Jim Rickards’ promo, you’ll read something like this…
My name is Jim Rickards.
I’m a former advisor to the Pentagon, the White House, Congress, the CIA, and the Department of Defense.
I’m also an attorney, investment banker…
…and author of 7 books on currencies and international economics.
When places like Fox, CNBC or Bloomberg want to know what’s about to shakeup the global economy, they call me.
Most of all, like you, I’m a proud American patriot.
The disturbing predictions you’re about to see are based on my independent research and my contacts in the intelligence community.
I’ve never made this kind of public announcement before…
But it’s my duty to pull the alarm.
Remember, your reader is constantly asking himself two questions over and over again as he reads your copy…
“What’s in it for me?”
And “Why should I believe you?”
So whenever you’re making a bold claim or a big promise, it’s a good idea to shine a spotlight on why your reader should believe you, too.
Like in this promo, right after the credibility section, the copywriter makes the bold claim at the core of this sales letter:
The US dollar will be made obsolete.
Soon, your cash will be confiscated – or will simply be worthless paper.
The cash currency we have now will be replaced with a new, programmable digital tokens.
Don’t forget about timing too, the often overlooked crucial factor for the success and failure of copy and especially financial copy, where the emotions of your reader moves with the market.
Cryptos and NFTs were red-hot when this promo was running.
So was talk of regulating the market… creating a “Fedcoin”… etc.
Combined all of this with your reader’s distrust of the Biden admin and the core claim of this promo is really quite plausible.
It’s only a matter of time.
