Here’s the first event/seminar sales letter I’ve reviewed for you (well, technically it’s DVD recordings of the event but the copy would be pretty similar whether you’re selling the live event or the recordings)…
After Brian Kurtz left Boardroom Inc he went into the educational business. Teaching entrepreneurs and business owners all his tricks of the trade, learned over 30+ years at one of the Big Boys of info-publishing.
He already had a reputation with those in-the-know, so if I remember right he launched this massive event pretty early into his new career. Go big or go home!
The sales letter for the event (and for the DVD recordings) was written by copywriter Roy Furr. I remember briefly meeting Roy at an airport en route to an AWAI conference in 2010 or 2011 maybe. He’s since went on to become a well-respected copywriter and copywriting mentor. Here’s his website -> https://www.breakthroughmarketingsecrets.com
I believe this event sold out fast, so if you’re ever tasked with writing event copy then today’s swipe is going to be good to review. It follows a fairly classic formula, a big list of the best speakers and what they’re going to talk about (or talked about), and the offer.
When you’re selling events, I’ve found it’s about two things… the celebrity speakers, first and foremost and second, the opportunity to be in a room with them and like-minded folks. Seeing your hero’s and socializing. But since this is for DVDs of the event, that socializing benefit doesn’t exist. So Roy really layers on the speakers and all the awesomeness they shared.
Take a look and see for yourself…
